The Air Cargo Agents Association of India (ACAAI) has issued an official statement highlighting the serious challenges currently faced by exporters and air cargo stakeholders due to the escalating geopolitical tensions between Iran and the United States, which have disrupted flight operations across parts of West Asia. The association noted that route diversions, airspace restrictions, and schedule irregularities have led to export cargo being stranded at airport terminals across India, resulting in delays beyond the control of exporters, customs brokers, and air cargo agents. In its representation to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, ACAAI has urged the government to direct Cargo Terminal Operators to waive demurrage charges on affected export consignments during the disruption period, emphasizing that the current situation constitutes an exceptional global logistics challenge and that relief measures are essential to safeguard exporters from undue financial burden and to maintain stability in India’s air cargo trade.
