Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings has announced a landmark order for 20 next-generation Airbus A350 Freighter aircraft, with options for 20 more, marking a significant move away from its traditionally Boeing-dominated widebody fleet. The New York-based operator has secured early delivery slots, with aircraft expected to arrive between 2029 and 2034, supporting its strategic expansion across global cargo and charter markets. CEO Michael Steen emphasised that the order comes at a time when aging widebody freighters are being retired, tightening market capacity and increasing demand for modern, fuel-efficient aircraft with strong payload-range capabilities.
