Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR), operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), has signed an MoU with Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to strengthen cargo connectivity between South India and Europe. The collaboration links BLR, serving one of India’s fastest-growing manufacturing and export regions, with Frankfurt, one of Europe’s most connected cargo hubs.
Under the agreement, both airports will establish a structured framework focusing on joint trade lane analytics, digital corridor development, pharma integrity standards, and knowledge exchange. The goal is to improve shipment visibility, reduce dwell times, and provide more predictable service levels for cargo stakeholders.
Girish Nair, COO, BIAL, highlighted that the partnership represents a strategic shift toward integrated, data-driven cargo corridors. By combining infrastructure investment, technology adoption, and capability development, BLR aims to create efficient, scalable trade lanes supporting high-value, and time-sensitive cargo.
Alexander Laukenmann, Senior Executive VP at Fraport, emphasised that the collaboration forms a robust bridge between two key economic hubs, fostering innovation and partnership-driven solutions to optimise conditions for customers and the broader
cargo community.
The partnership aligns with the EU–India Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to boost bilateral trade and air cargo flows. Efficient, reliable cargo corridors will be critical to faster market access and resilient, future-ready supply chains.
