The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has achieved a milestone in freight transportation. DFCCIL flagged off its first 25-tonne axle load freight train, marking a new chapter in high-capacity rail logistics. The train was operated on the Western DFC for transportation of steel coils, running from the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at New Gothangaon in Gujarat to the HTPP siding at Palwal in Haryana, and covering a distance of 1,106 km. Running at a speed of 100 kmph, this train is a symbol of technological advancement and an achievement that gives new momentum to the PMGS initiative. Comprising 45 wagons, the train carried a higher volume of freight compared to conventional operations. While ordinary freight trains typically operate at speeds of 60–70 kmph, this train can achieve speeds of up to 100 kmph.
