A coordination meeting between Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPT) reviewed progress on establishing direct rail connectivity between Jawaharlal Nehru Port and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). The discussions focused on the status, technical aspects, and completion of the 102-km JNPT–Vaitarna section — the final and critical link of the WDFC — covering construction, signalling, and associated infrastructure. Chaired by Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL, and Gaurav Dayal, Chairman, JNPT, the meeting underscored the importance of seamless WDFC connectivity with India’s largest container port. JNPT noted that the direct WDFC link would significantly enhance rail evacuation capacity, enable faster and more reliable EXIM cargo movement, reduce transit delays, and road congestion.
