India has formally notified a new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to be developed by Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing in Dholera, Gujarat, dedicated to electronic hardware, software, and IT/ITES services. Spanning 66,166 hectares and likely to generate 21,000 jobs, the project will host the first semiconductor fabrication plant. Beyond manufacturing, the SEZ is structured to streamline approvals and optimise logistics flows, critical for precision-driven semiconductor supply chains. This move builds on recent SEZ policy reforms aimed at attracting capital-intensive investments, boosting innovation, and improving EoDB. Backed by policy support and industry participation, the initiative is set to accelerate integrated manufacturing clusters, strengthen domestic capabilities, and position India as a competitive global hub for semiconductor and electronics production, unlocking new opportunities for the logistics and cargo-handling ecosystem.
