FedEx along with IIT Madras has completed India’s first intra-city drone delivery trials in Bengaluru. This achievement marks a step forward in the evolution of urban logistics and highlights FedEx’s commitment to building next-gen, technology-enabled supply chains in India. The trials demonstrated a mid-mile aerial logistics service linking Electronic City Phase II with a site near Kempegowda International Airport. Conducted under the research framework of FedEx SMART Centre at IIT Madras, the initiative tested high-speed drone operations within complex urban airspace. The project evaluated how drone-based logistics can improve efficiency, while reducing dependence on congested road networks.
