FTAs & demand boosts farm export growth: Goyal

Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry called on stakeholders from food, agriculture, and hospitality sectors to collaborate in positioning India as the world’s largest exporter of farm and processed foods. He was speaking at the inauguration of the 40th edition of AAHAR–The International Food & Hospitality Fair in New Delhi. Highlighting the export momentum, he said India’s food and agricultural exports, including farm produce and fisheries, have reached ₹5 lakh crore (over US$ 55 billion) annually, making India the seventh-largest farm exporter globally. Goya stressed exports of processed foods, fruits, pulses, veggies, cocoa, cereals, and rice have recorded substantial growth over the past decade, reflecting the sector’s global demand. He underlined the nine FTAs concluded in the past few years have opened market access to 38 developed economies, strengthening India’s integration into global value chains.
