Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) said, “Hyderabad Airport currently has a handling capacity of 150,000 MT of cargo annually and is undergoing a major capacity expansion to support future growth. Cargo Terminal 1 is being upgraded to add another 100,000 MT of capacity, effectively doubling its present capability. In parallel, a new Cargo Terminal 2 with a capacity of 50,000 MT — expandable up to 100,000 MT —is under construction and is expected to be operational by Q1 CY26. Once all developments are completed, the airport’s total cargo-handling capacity will increase to 350,000 MT. The infrastructure for the existing cargo terminal 1 is being further expanded in phases, beginning with the Domestic Terminal which will operationalize by Q1 FY26-27 and International Courier Terminal scheduled for operationalization by Q2 FY26–27, followed by the Export Perishables Terminal by Q4 FY26–27. These upgrades position Hyderabad Airport to support rising cargo volumes and emerging logistics needs across key sectors.”
