India exploring alternative routes: Commerce Secy

India will continue supplying essential food items to the conflict-ridden Gulf region, with authorities exploring alternative routes such as air cargo instead of shipping lanes. Rajesh Agrawal, Commerce Secretary, emphasised food security remains a priority, though shipment volumes may fluctuate due to rising costs and operational challenges. The government is working on a targeted support package for exporters, particularly in the MSME sector, through the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation, aiming to cushion them against uncertainty during these extraordinary times, while clarifying that energy shipments fall outside the scope of this scheme.
