Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd said, “One of the key constraints is the limited availability of cold-chain and multimodal infrastructure outside airport premises, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets that feed into Hyderabad’s catchment area. Another challenge is the lack of double-dipping permission for international freighter operators, which is constraining the freighters from consolidating loads across cities to improve the viability of operations. The industry also faces shortages of specialized manpower, particularly skilled personnel needed to manage the handling requirements of pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive commodities. Regulatory complexities, including time-consuming processes and varying GST structures across transportation modes, contribute to procedural delays and inefficiencies. Additionally, digital systems across different modes of transport remain fragmented, which affects end-to-end visibility and real-time tracking. Addressing these challenges requires coordinated efforts among industry stakeholders, continued investment in infrastructure, and policy support to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.”
