Kerala’s maritime infrastructure is poised for an advancement as Vizhinjam International Seaport to commence gateway cargo operations in the second week of this month. The development follows regulatory clearance from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board after a site inspection, with final customs approval expected shortly. Upon receiving clearance, the port will begin handling containerised EXIM cargo, enabling exporters and importers in Kerala and neighbouring regions to access direct shipping routes. Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd and Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd have completed the operational groundwork ahead of the launch. This milestone is likely to enhance regional logistics efficiency and strengthen India’s maritime trade capabilities.
