A joint team from Cathay Cargo and Global Logistics System (GLS) has won the Jettainer ULD Challenge at this year’s IATA ONE Record Hackathon, held from 24 to 26 April in Hong Kong. The event brought together global developers to solve key cargo challenges, with the category focused on maintaining optimal temperature conditions for cool passive pallets. The winning team developed a custom-built tracking device paired with an advanced analytics platform, delivering an end-to-end solution for real-time pallet monitoring. The device features environmental sensors that track temperature, humidity, light, and vibration, ensuring shipments remain within defined limits. With integrated Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, the system enables seamless linkage and continuous data transmission. This creates a connected ecosystem that provides instant, actionable insights throughout the shipment journey, enhancing visibility, compliance, and operational efficiency in air cargo logistics.
