Regional airports operate far below capacity

Amit Maheshwari, Founder and CEO, Softlink Global, said, “Tier II and III airports do not suffer from lack of infrastructure but flights and route economics. Many regional airports are operating far below capacity, mainly because airlines deploy aircraft on high-demand metro routes. To scale domestic cargo, the focus must be on dedicated cargo routes, night freighter operations, better airport-truck connectivity, and incentives for airlines to base aircraft in regional airports. The airports that become reliable cargo hubs with predictable schedules and fast handling will scale faster than those only expanding terminals.”
