Andhra Pradesh remains central because of its large shrimp farming base. In 2024-25, India’s seafood exports touched US$7.45 billion, with frozen shrimp alone at 7.41 lakh MT. The US is the largest shrimp market, followed by China, EU, Southeast Asia, Japan and the Middle East. Key commodities include frozen shrimp, frozen fish, squid and cuttlefish. The next growth phase will depend on traceability, compliance and faster documentation.”
